SUMMER TRAINING PRORGRAM
APSSDC (Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation) conducting a 'Summer Training Program' online during the period of 06/June/2017 to 20/June/2017. The objective of this summer training program is to train the II, III & IV B.Tech students on courses that are specially designed taking industry needs and technology forecasts into account.
Many thanks to APSSDC team for their technical support in inculcating skills required to the students so that they can be Industry ready.
A few snapshots from the workshop conducted on 'Continuing Professional Development' for all the teaching staff. It was held on 15/June/2017 and the resource person was Smt. Waheeda Parveen, Assistant Professor ofEnglish, SRIT.
MACHINE LEARNING:
On 22/July/2017, Department of CSE in association with IEEE's Computational Intelligence Society - Hyderabad chapter, conducted one guest lecture on "Research Prospectives in Machine Learning" by senior Professor C. A. Murthy (http://www.isical.ac.in/~murthy/), ISI, Kolkata.
He talked about the research happening in the areas of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and etc. The ultimate goal of the researchers is to make the machine act like a human being in all aspects and in all conditions. He also highlighted one point that it's not an easy task to build a machine equivalent to a human being when we consider the things like emotions, love, pain and etc. He gave us many real time examples to understand the practical problems and to work on those areas.
II & III B.Tech (CSE) students, teaching faculty, Mr. Praneel Kumar - IEEE coordinator, Dr. Amarnath - R&D director, Dr. Hitendra Sarma - CSE-HOD, Prof. V. Sankar - Director for foreign affairs, JNTUA, were present in the talk.
Thanks a ton to the Professor C. A. Murthy for coming all the way from Kolkata to create awareness on ' research perspectives in Machine Learning' among the Computer Science graduates and teachers (future researchers).
GUEST LECTURE
On 1/May/2017, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering(ECE) conducted a guest lecture on 'Cochlear Impact Design & Analysis' for II B.Tech (ECE) students and the faculty. Resource person was Prof. M. Rama subba Reddy, Department of Biomedical engineering, IITM, Chennai. Professor talked about the cochlear implant, which is the only means available at present to penetrate the “inhuman silence which separates and estranges”, as stated by the famous blind-deaf writer, lecturer, and social advocate, Helen Keller. The development of the cochlear implant has a long, distinguished, and interesting history, including dynamic interplays between engineers and physicians as well as an intricate balance between experimentation and ethics. The cochlear implant today has not only provided useful hearing to more than 120,000 deaf persons but also become a multi-billion-dollar industry, attracting discussion in the industry..
Also, he talked about the opportunities for the ECE graduates in Biomedical field and things to be focused on getting there.
On 24/Sep/2016, Department of Civil Engineering in association with IEEE, have conducted a one day workshop on "Exposure to Interior Design" for all IV B.Tech (Civil). Many thanks to the resource person Ms. Shaik Arifa, Assistant Professor for her sincere efforts in conducting the workshop very effectively. We hope that at least a few students will start thinking about choosing 'Interior Design' as a career option.
Thanks to coordinators, all faculty members of Civil Eng, and HOD for making the workshop a grand success.
Thanks to all students for making this workshop productive and effective.
On the same day, Logo of Student club (REINFORCIV) of CivilEngineering is launched and also news letter of Civil Department for the period of Jan 2016 - Jun 2016 is distributed among the students and faculty.
